The 2021 Laura E. Jones Community Partner Award recipient is the Ashtabula County YMCA.
The Laura E. Jones Community Partner Award, named after someone who made their tenure as Executive Director focused on growth and outreach in the community by working tirelessly on behalf of LEADERship Ashtabula County to make Ashtabula County stronger with others' help in the spirit of collaboration and growth, is presented to an organization or individual that has consistently gone above and beyond in terms of collaboration and community service throughout Ashtabula County and in working with LEADERship Ashtabula County.
It is through the support and generosity of its alumni, volunteers, organizations, and individuals that LEADERship Ashtabula County is able to impact the lives of everyone who participates in programming and outreach activities. Throughout the 2020-2021 program year, there were many changes, but the constant that remained was the amazing support of the community, and the Ashtabula County YMCA exemplifies being a community partner in the County.
The Ashtabula YMCA works every day, side-by-side, with its neighbors and other community organizations to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income, or background, has the opportunity to be healthy, confident, connected, and secure.
The Ashtabula YMCA focuses on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, strengthening communities, and believes that lasting personal and social change happens when everyone works together.
Throughout the last year, the Ashtabula YMCA opened its doors and its programming to LEADERship Ashtabula County participants. From hosting full program days, organizing tours to providing outreach with staff and supplies, this support enabled LEADERship Ashtabula County to continue its programming in-person.
In addition to its collaboration with LEADERship, it adjusted its programming to better serve the needs of the Ashtabula community during the pandemic. From being a pandemic childcare center, offering assistance with voter registration, to adding in well-checks of its members through outreach and phone calls, it highlighted what it means to collaborate and focus on the needs of Ashtabula County.
The Ashtabula YMCA will be recognized for this award during our 2021 Annual Meeting & Recognition Breakfast. You're invited to attend on Monday, August 9th at 7:45AM. For more information and to RSVP, please click below.
